<blockquote><p>A new report from Environment Maine shows the Androscoggin River is one of the most toxic in the country.</p>
<p>The report ranks the river among the top 20 waterways for the most cancer causing toxic discharge for 2007.</p>
<p>The report said 25,502 pounds of toxic discharge, including lead and mercury, were released into the river in 2007.</p>
<p>The report said nationally, toxic chemical were discharged into 1,900 waterways.</p>
<p>The Environment Maine report used data from the U.S. EPAs toxic release inventory.</p></blockquote>
