Independence Day, 2009

This weekend, I lament the collapse and pending death of the first American republic while looking forward to the birth of a new one which will hopefully restore the principles that made the first one great.

This process could happen relatively quickly and peacefully if people would just admit that America has turned into a police state, an empire, and a totalitarian wasteland ruled by unelected bankers and unelected bureaucrats.

Why is there such appeal in denial of reality? I think of what the founders sacrificed to establish this nation. Then I think about modern Americans who won’t even sacrifice their humility to admit they fell for a bunch of lies about how wonderful America is.

It’s not. The current US government is a stain on our history and the quicker we get rid of it, the better off we’ll all be.

Are things really that much different today than they were when the Declaration of Independence was written and mailed to the tyrant of the day? I hardly think so, in fact, the similarities are striking to me.

What is so hard to understand?

Relatively speaking, the United States enjoyed a period of peace, prosperity and freedom until 1913 when the private Federal Reserve bank was given the power to create the nation’s money.

Within 16 years, the policies and activities of the Fed led to the “great depression”. Since WW2 ended, America has accelerated towards a bankrupt empire with an imperial foreign policy and a domestic welfare state, all made possible by the Fed’s loose monetary policy.

The debt based Federal Reserve system must be abolished and replaced with some form of honest money controlled directly by Congress through the Treasury department.

There is simply no reason for a private bank to issue the nation’s money with interest due.
